Online Services

South Carolina offers several options for filing Individual Income Tax returns. Filing electronically is the fastest and easiest way to complete your return, plus:

      Automatic calculations reduce the chance of errors;
Systematic checkpoints ensure your return is complete before submission; and
We receive your return sooner, which means we can start processing it faster.
If you're expecting a refund, choose direct deposit! It's the fastest, easiest, most secure way to receive your refund.

Approved Free File Software

Due to Intuit electing to no longer participate in the IRS Free File Program, SC Fillable Forms is no longer available. Visit Intuit for more details.
SC Fillable Forms does not store your information from previous tax years. Previous logins no longer provide access to the program.

File by paper

  • More than 90% of returns filed in 2020 were filed online.
  • Filing by paper increases your chances of errors and paper returns take longer for us to process, which may delay any refund you may receive.

Have an Individual Income Tax bill?

We always recommend MyDORWAY as the safest way to make online payments. Pay now on MyDORWAY using a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) or checking or savings account.
If you plan to file by paper, check the ACH Debit box on line 36 and enter your banking information on line 37 of the SC1040, and we’ll automatically withdraw the payment from your account.

To pay by check, mail the check to the address on the form, letter, or notice related to your payment, and please note:
  • The SCDOR only accepts checks drawn from a United States bank.
  • Your check may be converted to a debit (ACH) transaction which will process your payment faster from your bank account, and your payment will show as an electronic payment on your bank statement (you will not see a scanned image of your check).

Expecting a refund?

If you are expecting a refund, you can choose one of three options for receiving your refund: direct deposit, debit card, or paper check.

We recommend choosing direct deposit. It’s the fastest, easiest, most secure way to receive your refund. As soon as we’ve processed your return, your refund will be deposited into your bank account. You don’t have to wait for paper check printing, worry about your check or card getting lost in the mail, or take the time to deposit your check.
