Businesses are required to submit W2s to the SCDOR by January 31.  Uploading W2s on MyDORWAY is the SCDOR's preferred method for W2 submission. MyDORWAY is free, secure, and available 24/7.

W2 Upload Instructions:

  1. Sign in on MyDORWAY and select "W2 Portal" listed under the "I Want To" column.  (New to MyDORWAY? Check out our tutorials.)

  2. Choose your submission method: Select the method below that best suits your business, regardless of the number of employees you have. You can save your application after each W2 and return later. If you choose to upload a file, you can submit as many times as needed to achieve an error free submission.
    • Manual Entry
      • This option is best for employers that have up to 30 employees and do not have the ability to generate the EFW2 format file from their accounting package. Go to the W2 Portal in MyDORWAY and manually enter information and confirm calculations.
    • Online Upload Standard SSA EFW2 Format (including state RS record)
    • Online Upload Comma Delimited File (CSV)
        • Suitable for user with 100 or less employees or an accounting package with payroll modules that can generate this file format. View W2 CSV Upload Instruction here

Information you will need to provide:

  • The numeric Withholding number (file number) for the business. (9 digits)
  • Federal Identification (FEI) Number for the business.
  • The following information for each employee: Social Security Number (SSN), first name, middle initial, last name, suffix, location address (attention, suite, room number, etc.), delivery address, city, state abbreviation, zip code, zip code extension, employee's Income Tax reporting, employee's wages, tips, other compensation (dollars and cents), employee's state taxable wages (dollars and cents), and the employee's state Income Tax withheld (dollars and cents).

 Due Date: January 31

  • W2s are due to employees, the IRS/SAA, and the SCDOR annually by January 31.
  • If you submit W2s on MyDORWAY  you do not need to file a WH1612 Transmittal Form by paper.
  • You can submit return information for multiple customers in a single file, which is beneficial for tax professionals and payroll companies who file on behalf of multiple clients. The service is also a great option for small business owners who prepare return(s) using tax preparation software.
  • W2s should be submitted for a shorter term if the business has opened or closed during the year.
  • If you change payroll providers during the year, only submit one filing at the end of the year. Incomplete filings will cause errors in the information provided for the business.
