The South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) maintains a presence on Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter)LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube​. Our social media sites provide an opportunity to interact with taxpayers and share relevant information. Visitors who interact with any of our social media sites should be aware of the following guidelines.

Content Guidelines

SCDOR expects posts and exchanges on its social media sites to follow the normal conventions of polite discussion. We reserve the right to delete inappropriate content at any time. Content including, but not limited to, the following may be deleted:
  • Graphic or inappropriate references, vulgar language, personal attacks of any kind, or offensive terms that target specific groups
  • Topics unrelated to SCDOR
  • Unsupported accusations or abusive comments that SCDOR deems harmful to anyone or any organization
  • Advertisements for any commercial product or service, or any entity or individual
  • Encouragement of any illegal, violent, or other activity that could compromise public safety
  • Sensitive or confidential information that should not be shared with the public
  • Political endorsements
  • Spam

Additional Guidelines

All visitors to SCDOR social media sites participate at their own risk. We are not responsible for users’ comments, usernames, photos, and/or any user‐provided information. Comments and opinions expressed by visitors are theirs alone and may not reflect the opinion of SCDOR or its employees.

SCDOR social media sites are not the appropriate channels for discussing questions specific to your tax account. Never share your personal or private data in public venues like Facebook and Twitter. If you have specific questions about your tax account, you must call us for assistance at 1‐844‐898‐8542.

SCDOR assumes no liability for damages incurred directly or indirectly as a result of errors, omissions, or discrepancies. We are not responsible for any outside content and do not endorse any website, advertisement, or other content that is linked to or from SCDOR social media sites.

SCDOR social media sites are for information distribution and discussion purposes only. The information contained on these sites does not amend or overrule any applicable statute or administrative rule, or any decision rendered by or rule put in place by SCDOR, its employees, or the South Carolina General Assembly.

SCDOR is not responsible for any online information that is not posted by an authorized representative. Visitors are welcome to comment on SCDOR social media pages at any time; however, we will respond or moderate posts during our regular business hours.

Terms of Service

SCDOR’s social media sites are third‐party sites and have terms of service and policies that are not governed by SCDOR or the state of South Carolina. Facebook and Twitter are not official SCDOR websites and are subject to Facebook and Twitter terms of service and policies. Visitors looking for the official source of SCDOR information should visit dor.sc.gov.

Media

Media representatives interested in SCDOR information or obtaining interviews should contact the Public Information Office at news@dor.sc.gov.

Privacy

SCDOR is committed to protecting taxpayers’ privacy. Visitors to our social media sites should not post or share any confidential or sensitive information. We may remove any content containing personally identifiable information, but we are not responsible for any damages caused by any postings or by delays in removing postings.
