The South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) has been named the 2024 overall winner of the LiveLifeBlue Award by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina for the agency's efforts to promote health and wellness to its employees.
“Creative incentive offerings made a difference," BlueCross BlueShield wrote in their announcement, “including providing agency swag, casual dress days, extra lunch hour, drawings, and participation certificates that employees often use to decorate their cubicle walls."
BlueCross BlueShield also praised such initiatives as the SCDOR's decompression pods for call center staff and sit and stand desks, which promote health and wellness while on the job.
The health and well-being of the agency's employees is a major point of emphasis for SCDOR Director Hartley Powell and his executive leadership team.
“We are passionate about making our agency a place that values the health and well-being of its employees," Powell said. “We put a great deal of effort into providing a work-life balance for all employees. And that effort helps us fulfill our purpose to fund a better state to live, work, and play."
The honor is the second statewide award given to the SCDOR in the past year in recognition of the health and wellness activities the agency offers to employees. In October 2023, the SCDOR was recognized as the overall winner of the Public Employee Benefit Authority's Partners Award, an honor bestowed upon a public employer that best demonstrates a dedication to promoting a healthy workplace.
The SCDOR is always looking for the next generation of dedicated employees eager to advance our mission of funding a better state to live, work, and play. To learn more about why the SCDOR is a great place to work, and to see how you can become part of #teamSCDOR, visit dor.sc.gov/careers.
