RICHLAND COUNTY WOMAN ARRESTED FOR PREPARING TAX RETURNS IN VIOLATION OF 2016 CONVICTION
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  -

SCDOR agents arrested a Richland County woman on Wednesday on four counts of preparing state tax returns in violation of her 2016 conviction for willfully preparing false South Carolina tax returns.

Maribel Crespo, 49, of Columbia, is the owner of ITC Global Services, LLC. Crespo is charged with preparing state tax returns in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, even though she was prohibited by law from preparing South Carolina returns as the result of a 2016 conviction.

Crespo pled guilty to willfully preparing false returns in 2016. She was sentenced to 366 days in prison, concurrent with a federal sentence for the same amount of time.

If convicted, Crespo faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine for each count. She is being held in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
