SCDOR agents arrested a Myrtle Beach woman on Friday, October 11, and charged her with failing to file and pay state taxes.
Kathleen Annette Drake, 48, of Myrtle Beach, is charged with four counts of failing to file a state Income Tax return, pay taxes, and keep records. According to warrants, her state taxable income for tax years 2019-2022 totaled more than $1.6 million. Her taxes due total $73,848.
If convicted, Drake faces a maximum sentence of one year in prison and/or a $10,000 fine for each count. She was held Friday at the J. Ruben Long Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
The SCDOR is committed to the fair administration of tax laws. By taking enforcement action against noncompliant taxpayers, the Department seeks to prevent unfairly increasing the tax burden on those who do comply.
