If you have a question this tax season, the SCDOR has tips to help you find the answer:

Take advantage of our self-service options.

The SCDOR has tools available 24/7/365 to help customers complete common tasks and answer general questions without waiting:

Is your question about a notice you received from the SCDOR?

Dorwin’s Notice Help Tool may be able to help. The Notice Help Tool provides general information to help you understand why you received the notice and how to resolve your issue.

  • If the Notice Help Tool can help, your notice will include instructions to get started.
  • If your notice isn’t on the Notice Help Tool, or you have a more specific question, use the contact information listed on your notice, which is the most direct way to get in touch with someone who can help.

Is your question about a debt that the SCDOR is collecting on behalf of another agency?

The SCDOR is required by law to help qualifying entities collect debts through the Setoff Debt and GEAR collection programs.

  • You must contact the agency claiming the debt (not the SCDOR) using the contact information listed on your collection notice.

Additional ways contact the SCDOR:

  • MyDORWAY web messages – We recommend using your MyDORWAY account to contact us. Because you're already logged in, your question is linked to your account, so we're able to point you in the right direction sooner.
    • Log in to MyDORWAY and select the More tab. On the next screen, select Send the SCDOR a Message.
    • Don’t have a MyDORWAY account? Sign up at dor.sc.gov/MyDORWAY-signup.
  • Email and phone – Visit our website for a list of tax-specific email addresses and phone numbers.
    • Include your name, SCDOR file number, and SSN or FEIN when emailing us.
  • Mail – Use the address on your return, notice, or payment voucher.
    • If there is no address listed, visit our Tax Index and select the tax section you need.
  • Visit us in person – The SCDOR offers in-person assistance through our Taxpayer Service Centers.

More tips when contacting the SCDOR:

  • Remember, the SCDOR cannot prepare tax returns or complete applications.
  • We must have a signed power of attorney form on file if you are representing someone else.
