Business Personal Property Tax (BPP) is a tax on the furniture, fixtures, and equipment that are owned and used in a business.
How to file and pay
All businesses are required to file Business Personal Property Tax returns. This includes businesses (foreign or domestic) that lease equipment located in South Carolina.
File
Any assets that are claimed on the business's Income Tax returns should be reported on the BPP tax return. On the return, report the total cost of the assets, the Income Tax depreciation, and the net depreciated value. BPP Tax returns are due four months after the business's accounting closing period. For example, if a business has a December accounting closing period, then their return is due April 30 of the following year.
- We recommend filing electronically using MyDORWAY, our free online tax portal.
- You also have the option to file by paper using the Business Personal Property Return (PT-100) and PT-100 Instructions.
