The SCDOR has been named the 2025 Overall winner of the PEBA Partners award by the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA).
PEBA awards this honor annually to the South Carolina public employer that is most dedicated to creating a physically, emotionally, and financially healthier workplace. This is the second time in the past three years that PEBA has honored the SCDOR as the Overall PEBA Partners winner. It’s the third consecutive year the SCDOR’s wellness efforts were recognized by PEBA.
The SCDOR is one of 855 South Carolina public employers eligible for the PEBA Partners award. The field includes state agencies, public school districts, county and municipal governments, and higher education institutions.
“Earning the overall PEBA Partners Award for 2025 is continued recognition that the SCDOR values the health and well-being of its employees,” said SCDOR Director Hartley Powell. “We do more than just process taxes here. We build careers with a work-life balance and a focus on wellness that is second to none.”
PEBA described the SCDOR’s work environment as “positive and thriving, thanks to a comprehensive wellness program.”
“The SCDOR’s combination of creative wellness events, promotion of employee benefit programs, and accessible initiatives contribute to their employees’ health at all seven offices in the state,”
PEBA said in a statement announcing the award. “Employees consistently comment on their appreciation for the agencywide dedication to work-life balance and employee well-being. The SCDOR takes a thoughtful and proactive approach to promote employee well-being and success.”
In addition to PEBA’s acknowledgement, the SCDOR’s wellness efforts were recognized with the Overall 2024 LiveLifeBlue Award from the BlueCross BlueShield of SC.
