Alcohol server training programs now available

Friday, Jan 16, 2026

Anyone who works at least 10 hours a week serving alcohol for on-premises consumption and managers who oversee alcohol service must complete an approved server training program according to a state law passed last year. Alcohol server training programs that meet the requirements of SC Code Section 61-3-120(B) are now available.

For a list of approved server training vendors, visit dor.sc.gov/abl-server-training

  • Approved trainings that meet the requirements of SC Code Section 61-3-120(B) are listed in their own section at the top of the webpage.
  • Immediately after successfully completing training, servers will receive an alcohol server certificate number from the training provider. Program providers have 10 days to submit this information to the SCDOR.
  • To view and download an alcohol server certificate, visit dor.sc.gov/AlcoholServerCertificate. You must have the server’s name and server certificate number.
  • Servers must maintain a digital or physical copy of their alcohol server training certificate while serving alcohol.
  • Alcohol licensees must maintain a digital or physical copy of each server’s certificate for the duration of the server’s employment.

The SCDOR will accept alcohol server training programs for approval on a continuing basis
