South Carolina businesses are required to submit their 2025 W-2 and 1099 forms to the SCDOR by January 31, 2026. Remember, if your business submits 10 or more W-2 or 1099 forms, you’re required to use MyDORWAY, the SCDOR’s free online tax portal.

Because taxpayers should wait until they receive all W-2 and 1099 forms before filing their Individual Income Tax returns, it’s vital that employers submit these documents by January 31. However, in 2025, approximately a quarter of W-2 forms were submitted to the SCDOR after the deadline.

Ready to submit your W-2 and 1099 forms on MyDORWAY?

  • Log in to MyDORWAY.dor.sc.gov, click the More tab, and select either Upload W-2s or Upload 1099s.
  • Select the submission method that best suits your business:
    • Upload electronic W-2 (or 1099) file is best for employers with many employees and an accounting package with payroll modules that can generate the proper format file.
    • Upload Manual Excel File is best for employers that have fewer than 30 employees and do not have the ability to generate the proper file format from their accounting package.
  • Visit dor.sc.gov/w2-upload for more information, including a step-by-step tutorial and file formatting details.

Avoid these common mistakes:

  • Don’t submit a WH-1612 or paper copies of your W-2 and 1099 forms after filing electronically.
  • Don’t submit W-2 or 1099 forms by email or web message.
  • Manual uploading of forms requires you to have Microsoft Excel.
  • Don’t use hyphens in the “numeric only” fields for SSNs, FEINs and Withholding account numbers.
  • Only submit 1099 forms that withheld SC income.
  • Remember to include Carriage Return/Line Feeds (CR/LF) in the file. The SCDOR will not accept files without them.
