SCDOR agents arrested a Darlington County man on Thursday and charged him with six counts of tax evasion.
Harris Berkley Lambert, III, 52, of Hartsville, did not file South Carolina Individual Income Tax returns from 2014-19, according to arrest warrants. After he was informed that he was under criminal investigation, the warrants allege that Lambert filed returns showing $0 in South Carolina taxable income and $0 South Carolina Income Tax owed.
However, the SCDOR’s investigation found that from 2014-2019, Lambert had South Carolina taxable income of more than $521,000. As a result, he owes at least $33,512 in South Carolina Income Tax.
If convicted, Lambert faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and/or a fine of $10,000 per count. He is being held in the Darlington County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
