Network Technicians support and maintain the systems that keep SCDOR’s technology infrastructure running, helping ensure secure, reliable access to critical applications and data across the agency.

As a Network Technician, you’ll work as part of the Infrastructure Hardware Team to monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and support the agency’s network and virtual environments. You’ll assist with system installations, updates, and configurations, help maintain secure access to systems and data, and collaborate with team members to keep operations running smoothly.  

Salary range: $55,239 - $88,600

Schedule:  

  • Flexible hours may be available from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).
  • Hybrid schedules may be available with up to two days of telework per week after one year of employment with SCDOR.

Preferred qualifications (one of the following):  

  • A bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field, 
  • An associate’s degree in a related field,
    or 
  • A high school diploma and experience in information technology, electronics systems, or other related areas

Nexus Auditors analyze business activities to determine when companies have a tax responsibility in South Carolina and communicate those requirements to ensure compliance.

As a Nexus Auditor, you’ll analyze financial and operational information, review taxpayer questionnaires, and apply legal and tax guidance to support fair and accurate determinations. You’ll also communicate directly with taxpayers, attorneys, and CPAs, research complex nexus issues, and manage cases from initial review through resolution. This role offers a blend of analysis, research, and communication, with opportunities to work across multiple tax areas and develop specialized expertise.  

Salary range: $57,700 - $103,900

Schedule:  

  • Flexible hours may be available from 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).  
  • Hybrid schedules may be available with up to two days of telework per week after one year of employment with SCDOR.  

Preferred qualifications (one of the following):  

  • A bachelor’s degree with 12 semester hours in accounting or auditing subjects and four years of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or tax preparation and/or analysis
    or 
  • A master’s degree in accountancy or taxation, a law degree, or a CPA license and two years of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or tax preparation and/or analysis

Additional requirements:  

  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for field work (mileage reimbursement provided)

Property Tax Specialists review property tax exemption applications to ensure compliance with state and federal laws while helping taxpayers, representatives, and local officials navigate the exemption process.

As a Property Tax Specialist, you’ll evaluate property tax exemption applications, research tax laws and regulations, and analyze documentation to determine eligibility for exemptions. You’ll work closely with taxpayers, county officials, and agency staff to resolve questions, process appeals, and ensure exemptions are applied fairly and consistently. This role offers a blend of analysis, customer service, and problem-solving, with opportunities to build expertise in property tax law and administration.  

Salary Range: $$55,275 - $88,600

Schedule:  

  • Hours are from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).
  • Hybrid schedules may be available with up to two days of telework per week after one year of employment with SCDOR.

Preferred qualifications (one of the following):  

  • A bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or tax preparation/analysis
    or  
  • An associate’s degree and three years of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or tax preparation/analysis
