SCDOR agents served warrants on Robert John May III today and charged him with three counts of failing to file and pay South Carolina Individual Income Tax. May is currently being held in the Edgefield County Detention Center, where he is awaiting sentencing on unrelated charges for which he pleaded guilty in September.
According to the warrants, May, 39, did not file returns or pay South Carolina Income Tax from 2022-2024. Investigators found that he had a total gross income in excess of $323,000 for those three years. As a result, he owes the state more than $14,000 in South Carolina Income Tax.
If convicted, May faces a maximum sentence for each count of one year in prison and/or a $10,000 fine, plus the cost of prosecution.
