Taxes are complicated. We offer workshops and in-depth seminars throughout the year to help you tackle your filing and administrative requirements. Explore all of our course offerings below and register on Eventbrite to secure your spot.

Sales & Use Tax Seminars - $60 per person

Our in-person Sales & Use Tax Seminars are designed to give tax information and updates to specific industries based on legislative trends and taxpayer requests.

Who should attend

Business managers, CFOs, accounts payable personnel, accounting staff, tax professionals and anyone who works with Sales and Use Taxes would benefit from one of our seminars.

Course topics

While the topics of these seminars can vary based on the industry being presented to, most courses feature the following topics:

Sales, Use, and Local Taxes
Information on software, maintenance, and similar service contracts
Industry specific exemptions and exclusions

Continuing Education Credits

This seminar qualifies for continuing education credit and certificates of attendance will be provided. It is the participant's responsibility to seek credit through their appropriate accreditation board.

Sales Tax Workshops - FREE

This FREE workshop is taught by the professional staff of the SCDOR. During this course, we'll cover filing and administrative requirements, walk you through filling out a sample Sales Tax return, and address your questions.

Alcohol Beverage Licensing (ABL) Workshops - FREE

This FREE workshop, led by the SCDOR’s Alcohol Beverage Licensing (ABL) team, is a great introduction to ABL laws for businesses planning to sell wine, beer, or liquor. We’ll cover licensing basics, including applications and renewals, special events, and compliance laws.

Income Tax Course for Tax Consultants (fees may apply)

This two day tax course is offered throughout the state during November and December each year. The course features federal and state income tax topics of interest to tax practitioners, including two hours of approved ethics training (with one hour focused on SC ethics requirements). Income Tax Course for Tax Consultants information is detailed on Clemson University's website.

Does your organization need a speaker to present on SCDOR-related topics? Would you like an SCDOR representative available to answer questions at your event? Contact the SCDOR Speakers Bureau! We’ll work with you to find an appropriate speaker or representative for your needs. SCDOR speakers are available for a variety of events, including career fairs, expos, association annual meetings, and county meetings.

To make a request, complete our Speaker Request Form. Please note that submitting the form does not guarantee an SCDOR speaker, but we will do our best to accommodate your request. Events requiring multiple speakers or lasting more than one consecutive hour are accepted on a case-by-case basis.
