Bingo is legal in South Carolina to allow nonprofit organizations, licensed by the SCDOR, to generate funds to support their activities. The nonprofit organizations contract with a licensed solicitor and/or promoter to manage, operate, or conduct a game.

Special laws govern the way Bingo is to be conducted. These laws are enforced by the Bingo Licensing and Enforcement Section of the SCDOR. Failure to comply with Bingo laws and rules could lead to violations or loss of the license to operate Bingo. Because violation and/or criminal charges could result from non-compliance, prospective licensees are encouraged to obtain copies of the Bingo laws and rules to become familiar with the requirements. Information pertaining to the laws of Bingo can be found in Article 24 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina, specifically starting in South Carolina Code § 12-21-3920.
