A Certificate of Compliance, also known as a compliance letter, provides confirmation that all tax returns and taxes administered by the SCDOR have been filed and paid by a taxpayer.
A compliance letter:
- certifies compliance for businesses as well as individuals.
- is valid for 30 days from the date it is issued.
Am I eligible for a compliance letter?
We can only issue compliance letters to South Carolina taxpayers. If you do not have a filing history in South Carolina, you are not eligible for a compliance letter.
To request a compliance letter, you will need to:
- complete the Certificate of Tax Compliance Request Form (C-268).
- pay a nonrefundable fee of $60.
Note: Your request may be approved or denied.
