SCDOR Taxpayer Advocate to visit Greenville and Charleston offices

Tuesday, Sep 16, 2025

Beginning October 1, the SCDOR's Taxpayer Advocate will visit SCDOR offices in Greenville and Charleston to help taxpayers resolve their state tax issues in person.

The Taxpayer Advocate will be available from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, October 1 – Greenville | 33 Villa Road, Suite 401
  • Wednesday, October 8 – Charleston | 2070 Northbrook Boulevard, Suite B7

Before you go:

Who is the SCDOR’s Taxpayer Advocate?

The SCDOR’s Taxpayer Advocate offers support to taxpayers who have been unable to resolve their state tax issues through the SCDOR's normal, established procedures.

The Taxpayer Advocate is empowered to intervene on a taxpayer's behalf if they determine that:

  • The SCDOR's actions are creating an undue hardship, or
  • The SCDOR isn't justified in its actions

The SCDOR’s Taxpayer Advocate cannot assist with:

  • Taxes or fees owed to the federal government, counties, municipalities, or other state agencies
  • Non-tax debt, such as bills from hospitals or educational institutions
  • Requests to negotiate debt already in GEAR or Setoff programs

Not sure if the Taxpayer Advocate is the right person to handle your issue? Learn more at dor.sc.gov/taxpayeradvocate.

Can't make it on those dates? Contact the Taxpayer Advocate anytime at TaxpayerAdvocate@dor.sc.gov or 803-898-5444.
