Local Sales Tax changes coming to five counties on May 1

New Local Sales & Use Taxes will take effect in five South Carolina counties on May 1, 2025.
Georgetown County is adding a new Capital Projects Tax. As a result, the Sales Tax rate will increase to 7%.
Horry County is adding a new Transportation Tax, but its Capital Projects Tax is expiring. As a result, its Sales Tax rate remains 8%.
Jasper County is adding a new Transportation Tax. As a result, the Sales Tax rate will increase to 9%.
Sumter County is adding a new Capital Projects Tax. As a result, the county’s Sales Tax rate will increase to 8%.
Williamsburg County’s Capital Projects Tax is expiring. As a result, the county’s Sales Tax rate will decrease to 7%.
The statewide Sales and Use Tax is 6%. Counties may impose an additional 1% Local Sales Tax if voters in that county approve.
